Importing your catalog (CSV)

Upload an unmodified export from Square, Shopify, or QuickBooks — or fill in our template.

Importing is the fastest way to get your whole catalog in. SeaChange automatically recognizes an unmodified export from three systems — Square, Shopify, and QuickBooks Online — so you can upload those files as-is with no changes.

For anything else — a spreadsheet you keep yourself, or an export from another system — download our template and put your products into its columns. SeaChange does not remap arbitrary column names, so a file with its own headings (for example “Product” or “Qty” instead of the template’s) will not import. Match the template’s column names and you are set.

Template columns

The template has these columns. Only name is required; leave any others blank if you do not have them.

  • name — the product name (required; rows without a name are skipped)
  • upc — the barcode / GTIN
  • price — retail price
  • cost_price — what you pay for it
  • unit — e.g. each, oz, lb
  • quantity — units in stock
  • sku_code — your internal code
  • category — category name
  1. Go to Inventory → Import CSV.
  2. Upload an unmodified Square, Shopify, or QuickBooks export — or download our template, fill it in, and upload that.
  3. Check the detected format badge and the preview of the first rows, plus any flagged issues.
  4. Confirm the import. Duplicate products are skipped by default (choose “Overwrite” to update them instead).

💡 If your file imports 0 rows, the column headings almost certainly do not match — re-download the template and copy your data into it. Malformed rows are reported with the row number and reason while the valid rows still import, up to 600 rows per file. You can re-import anytime.
